Overview:
To gain exposure for the opening of Lennon The Musical on both a national and local level while simultaneously positioning the show with music oriented partners
Elements:
Lennon, VH1 Save the Music Foundation, and The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (a state-of-the-art mobile recording and multimedia studio where superstars like the Black Eyed Peas, Wyclef Jean and Mos Def have recorded) joined forces to bring a three-tier partnership:
- Enter-to-win promotional contest: Participants were guided to the Lennon website and had to answer 5 questions about the life of John Lennon. Winner provided a day on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to record an original song, a two-night stay at The Warwick Hotel in New York City, 2 tickets to Lennon The Musical, and a backstage tour including a meet-and-greet with the cast.
- Lennon donation to VH1 Save The Music Foundation: Lennon The Musical donated $1 for every ticket sold to a performance in the month of August to VH1 Save The Music. The proceeds will restore music programs throughout New York City schools.
- VH1 Top 20 Countdown: VH1 filmed a segment of their national Top 20 Countdown in front of the Broadhurst Theatre and conducted interviews with cast members Chad Kimball and Marcy Harriell promoting both the show and the VH1 Save The Music partnership.
- John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Press Event/Public Tours: Stationed in front of Strawberry Fields and across the street from the Dakota, press was invited by Lennon's press office, Boneau/Bryan-Brown, to tour the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to discuss the joint partnership with the musical and advertise free public tours throughout the week. Bus locations included: The Broadhurst Theatre, Times Square (52nd & Broadway), and The Warwick Hotel New York.
